Coach Joe Kennedy
COACH JOE KENNEDY

A 20-year Marine veteran, Coach Joe Kennedy was an assistant coach for the Bremerton High School varsity football team. Before he coached his first game, he made a commitment to God: he would give thanks at the conclusion of each game for what the players had accomplished and for the opportunity to be part of their lives through football. His actions were met with disapproval from his school district, leading to a lengthy court battle. On June 27, 2022, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Coach Kennedy and his First Amendment right. The following March, Coach Kennedy was officially reinstated as an assistant coach at the school, and he’s excited to be back with his team. Joe and his wife Denise are parents to four and reside in Pensacola. AVERAGE JOE is inspired by his life and the book detailing his journey, also entitled Average Joe, was released in 2023.
